I’ve built companies, IPO’d twice, lost it all, and started again.
Left school at 16. No degree! Just curiosity and drive.
That curiosity took me from running an IT business in the UK to venture capital, to founding four startups, including one that scaled to $20M and IPO’d on the ASX.
I’ve failed, rebuilt, and moved countries to start fresh. And I still love the game.
Because business isn’t just about scaling - it’s about resilience, reinvention, and enjoying the ride.
➤ MY STORY
[UK to Australia: 4 startups, 2 IPOs, endless lessons.]
Started in tech (hardware, then software and networks). Built an IT company in the UK, then moved into VC with Benchmark Capital. At 38, enrolled in an MBA - my first formal education.
My next startup (media/AR) flopped spectacularly - I lost everything.
In 2008, I moved to Australia, restarted as an IT manager, and by 2010 founded XRef. We IPO’d in 2016, and I exited in 2025.
Successes and failures taught me how to build, rebuild, and keep moving. Now, I help others do the same.
